ADVANCED SEARCH

The Advanced Search has a number of fields that can be used to narrow your search. A single field or any combination of fields may be used in one search. Each additional field used will further narrow your search. This search is not case sensitive. Click the "Search" button to run the search.

  • Class: Select the class to search from the dropdown list. The search will be filtered to display only works within that class.
  • Object Name: Select an object name from the dropdown list. Note that selecting a Class term first will automatically filter the Object Name list to include only work names associated with that class.
  • Title: Enter a whole or partial title of the work.
  • Artist: Click on "Select an Artist" to display a pop-up window of artist names. Click on the plus sign (+) adjacent to a letter to display all the artists with a last name beginning with that letter. Or search a portion of a name (first or last) by entering a name (e.g., mary) in the text box and click the "Filter" button. Click on the desired artist name to automatically insert the name into the search. Note that selecting a Class term first will automatically filter the artist name list to include only artists who created works belonging to that class.
  • Date Made Range: Enter a date range, in years, when the work was created. Years must be entered in four-digit format only (e.g., 1985). To search for works created within a particular year, enter the same year into both text boxes. Search results for Date Made Range will only return works with a known date made within the range specified. Search on the Period field for broader results.
  • Medium, Technique: Enter the type of medium or technique used to create the work. (E.g., mezzotint)
  • Accession Number: Enter the accession number of the work. Partial numbers can be entered or click the "Exact Match" box to search on a record with that exact number.
  • Only Display Records from The Print Study Centre: Check this box to search for works that are housed in The Print Study Centre. (For more information on The Print Study Centre, please see "About the Collections".)
  • Do Not Include Component Parts: Check this box to search for works as a whole, not the component parts. In other words, check this box to return the record of a portfolio, not the individual works of the portfolio.
  • Only Display Records with Images: Check this box to search for works with an associated image.
